EDUCATION NEWS

  • Carlos Graham was unanimously picked at a public board vote on Thursday night to fill the open school board seat formerly held by Erika Leonard — he will serve through April 2027 and brings local ties as a father of Jefferson City High graduates.  ABC 17

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Experts with the Missouri Department of Conservation say oak wilt is a fast-killing fungus spread by beetles and improper pruning that is harming oak trees across Missouri. They advise homeowners to prune only during winter (December through February) to reduce the risk of spreading the disease.  KRCG-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Cole County Commissioners will soon discuss the future of Lawrence Renn Jr.'s 175-acre property off Route T in Elston (neighbors are urging the use of trust funds to create a public park).  Jefferson City News Tribune
  • Governor Mike Kehoe announced that NTIA approved more than $814 million to expand broadband access to over 200,000 unserved and underserved locations, with contracts to be finalized with internet providers. The investment will support rural communities — an essential service as high-speed internet becomes vital to everyday life.  KRCG-TV
